Newman, Oliver & McCarten Insurance Brokers Ltd. is excited to support a $20,000 fundraising initiative to benefit both the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation (CMHF) andNorthumberland Hills Hospital Foundation (Cobourg) in their missions to purchase priority medical equipment.
Bike Up Northumberland! takes place Saturday, September 12, 2015 along the scenic Waterfront Trail from Cobourg to Presqu’il Park in Brighton. Cyclists of all ages and abilities can choose from one of the five distances that range from 5-100km.
“This is the first time our hospital foundations have worked together to organize a joint fundraising event to benefit our respective communities,” explains Calvin Newman, chair of the CMH Foundation and president of Newman, Oliver & McCarten. “Everyone from cycling enthusiasts to young families can take part in this fun, healthy day that will also support our hospitals.”
Newman Insurance is a proud sponsor of Bike Up Northumberland! and is encouraging its insurance partners to continue their incredible support of the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation. “Our goal is to help fund our local hospital so it is equipped to address the medical needs of our clients, friends, and family,” adds Newman. “We have surpassed $50,000 in donations over the past 10 years and our partners have matched our contributions. We are all committed to ensuring quality health care is readily available for our community.”
Past donations from Newman and its insurance partners Economical, Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance, and Gore Mutual have helped fund the purchase of hospital equipment such as a diagnostic microscope, palliative care bed, echocardiography machine, and digital mammography unit.
The popularity of recreational cycling in Northumberland County continues to rise and Bike Up Northumberland! is expected to be the largest organized ride ever held in the region. Individuals and families are encouraged to register and fundraise for this inaugural event, and there are numerous sponsorship opportunities available for businesses.
