Newman, Oliver & McCarten Insurance Brokers Ltd. began operations in 1871 serving the Hastings County and Quinte areas. A series of ownership changes over the years finally culminated with purchase in 1987, by Gary Newman. His daughter, Janet Newman-Phillips joined him shortly after the purchase. His son Calvin joined the following year, and his other daughter Gwen Bush joined in 1990.

In 2004 the position of president was handed over from Gary to Calvin. Calvin is still the current president.

Newman, Oliver & McCarten provides general insurance coverage from its ten convenient locations in Belleville, Campbellford, Colborne, Kingston, Madoc, Marmora, Ottawa, Pickering, Stirling and Trenton. There are 64 staff members now, with a combined total of over 500 years of experience in the insurance profession. We are dedicated and well educated members of your community..
