Newman, Oliver & McCarten purchased Jamieson Bone & Company from Vi Colden in 1989. Jamieson Bone was from Scotland and a prominent resident of Belleville. He started the insurance brokerage in 1920 with General Accident Company as his main company. He also served as Mayor of Belleville in 1938 and 1939 and was a very community spirited person. His office was located at the old Corby building at 163 Front Street beside City Hall in Belleville.
In 1999 Douglas Ellis Insurance Brokerage of Belleville was purchased by Newman, Oliver and McCarten and moved into our new location at 162 Dundas St. West in Belleville.
With the addition of the Ellis brokerage, our Belleville location very well staffed with friendly, helpful people to service our clients and prospective clients with all of their insurance needs. We will be part of the Belleville landscape for generations to come.
